And to the angel of the congregation in Philadelphia write -- These things says He that is holy, He that is true, He that has the Key of David, He that opens, and no man shuts, and shuts, and no man opens. I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept My Word, and have not denied My Name . . ."
From the creators of "Fireproof" comes the new film, Courageous, bringing over at least one familiar actor from "Fireproof".
But where "Fireproof", while having a noble theme, still stumbled with somewhat stilted acting and a few rough spots, "Courageous" had just as good a message but with superb acting and production quality.
I have to say, it is rare to find a film that both glorifies Yah and is also truly superior in every point of film making, but this movie does it. It is a rare gem indeed. The plot centers around a group of men who are police officers (one is a construction worker), who struggle with being the kind of fathers they need to be. But if you think the premise will make you yawn, think again. The movie opens with a hair raising scene that instantly forces you to the edge of your seat. The movie combines humor, drama, tragedy and triumph in a seamless story that keeps thundering forth for all two plus hours of the film. I was not bored for even a moment. The acting was superb, the message stellar, the plot gripping and the production quality superior.
If you have seen "Fireproof" be prepared for just as if not better themes and values, but with a much higher overall film experience and quality.
By the end of the movie, the hairs on the back of your neck will stand on end, as it challenges fathers everywhere to take their responsibilities seriously.
With only three months left in the year, this is by far the best movie I have seen in 2011. I highly recommend this film. It's the perfect way to celebrate the Fall Feasts. Especially as we approach the introspective holiday of Yom Kippur. Whether you are a father or not, this is a movie that is a must see. It's everything a movie should be.
