Evangelist Daniel John Lee

And to the angel of the congregation in Philadelphia write -- These things says He that is holy, He that is true, He that has the Key of David, He that opens, and no man shuts, and shuts, and no man opens.  I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept My Word, and have not denied My Name . . ."

Why Are FirstFruits and Pentecost Connected?

Dear Saints and others,

The question arises, why did Yah set things up to connect Feast of FirstFruits directly to Pentecost? After all, he could have had the 50 day countdown begin on the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread, or on the 7th Day of Unleavened Bread -- those are both High Shabbats. He could have had the 50 day countdown start on Passover.

Why did YahShua deem it appropriate to start the 50 day countdown on FirstFruits, directly linking FirstFruits with Pentecost? Furthermore, because Firstfruits and Pentecost are the ONLY two Feast Days that fall on a Sunday each year, they are further tied together.

One could argue that FirstFruits and Pentecost are the 2 most important feasts of the entire year -- but that answer is not entirely satisfying because Passover is also extremely significant yet Passover does not have that direct connection which FirstFruits and Pentecost share.

After all, Saturday night when FirstFruits begins every year, you start the 50 day countdown to Pentecost. It would be hard to more directly connect two feasts together than the way Firstfruits and Pentecost are connected to each other -- even if it is by a cord as lengthy as 50 days.

Here is why I believe FirstFruits and Pentecost have been so dramatically connected to each other. It's really very simple -- as Yah's Truth always is -- simple enough for a child to understand.

Just as YahShua ascended from the grave to the sky -- upward to the Heavenly Tabernacle on the Feast of FirstFruits, so did YahShua send His Ruach ha Kadosh in a DESCENT from that very same Heavenly Tabernacle back down to earth to overflow the apostles when the day of Pentecost was fully come.

FirstFruits was the ascension, and Pentecost was the descension! Or, as we modern Americans might quip -- what goes up must come down. Or, as YahShua so eloquently explained to his discples, "I MUST go away so that the Comforter may come."

In conclusion, these two Feasts accomplished what matters the most -- they brought Yah to Heaven in Triumph over death and they brought Yah's Spirit back down to us, enabling us one day, someday in the future, to triumph over death. May that great Resurrection Day come soon!
