In dealing with prophetic passages, YHVH typically very Hebraically inserts multiple layers. In my previous article entitled, “Time Frames in Daniel and Revelation Explained”, the literal 2300 days of Daniel were explained.
However, in Psalm 90:4 we read:
“For a thousand years in Your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.”
Apostle Peter reaffirms this verse in 2 Peter 3:8:
“But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with YHVH as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.”
It is with these above verses that led me to believe there is a second layer for Daniel 8. That while the literal 2300 days are the first layer, that each day may also represent a year, giving us a total of 2300 years.
Of course, unless the text of Daniel 8 can actually support this, and the historical record can verify this, the above is just conjecture.
In both cases, I found the needed verification.
The Scriptural and Historical Record
The vision given to Daniel in Daniel chapter 8 describes a great he goat waxing very strong which has a notable horn (vs 8).
It is agreed by almost all, that this notable horn would come to represent Alexander the Great.
Continuing on in verse 8, this notable horn (Alexander the Great) is broken (Alexander dies), and up comes 4 notable horns.
And, of course, after Alexander dies, 4 of his generals take over his empire:
1. General Lysimachus subdues Thrace and Bithynia
2. General Cassander subdues Greece and Macedonia
3. General Seleucus subdues Babylonia and Syria
4. General Ptolemy subdues Israel, Egypt and Arabia
In vs 9, a little horn comes out of ONE of these 4 notable horns. Because vs 9-12 describe this little horn taking over the “pleasant land” (Israel), it is logical to assume that the little horn comes forth from the ONE horn which also controlled Israel -- General Ptolemy.
Verses 9 through 12 talk about a time period in which a little horn comes out of ONE of these 4 notable horns and waxes exceedingly great, taking over Israel, magnifying himself, taking away the daily sacrifice and casting down the truth to the ground.
Then verses 13-14 asks how long the vision described in vs 9-12 will take.
The answer given is: 2300 days and then the sanctuary is cleansed.
Now, the little horn which begins to wax exceedingly great over Israel would obviously COME AFTER the 4 horns (generals), just as the 4 horns (generals) did not rise up until AFTER Alexander the Great (notable horn).
So, the prophetic sequence encompassing the 2300 begins when the little horn comes from ONE of the horns.
The moment General Ptolemy dies, the little horn can begin coming forth, just as General Ptolemy and the 3 other generals came forth the moment Alexander the Great died.
General Ptolemy died in 283 BC.
If we look at 2300 days as 2300 years, then 2017 is exactly 2300 years from 283 BC.
2017 is now taking on amazing ramifications. 2017 is 70 years from the decree that was issued to make Israel a nation. 2017 is 50 years from when Israel retook Jerusalem. 2017 is 2300 years from the moment the prophetic sequence of events started in Daniel 8:9.
To me it is obvious that 2017 must be the year the sanctuary is cleansed -- the year YahShua returns to rule and reign on planet earth.
Unfolding events in the coming weeks and months should verify this.
